Aquaponic AmsterdamDuring my trip to the creative city of Amsterdam, I looked for the Aquaponic installation of
Mediamatic in the Van Gendthallen: "The Aquaponic-system is a way to sustainably produce food in the city, because it hardly takes up any space. Plants and fish are cultivated together. The fish poo feeds the plants, and the plants clean the water for the fish. There's hardly any waste. In addition to this, Mediamatic has now developed Miniponics, the same system on a micro scale, which can be built and kept in offices, classrooms, living rooms, and even on balconies."
Enrique Medina, a spanish agriculture engineer was so kind to take some time to explain the system to me: Thanks Enrique, thanks Mediamatic and a special THX to Sebastian Olma from the
Serendipity Lab, who not only introduced me to some great places and people in Amsterdam, but also spoke the introduction to this clip. Und nicht zuletzt ist er der deutschen Sprache mächtig, was ich von meinem broken english nicht gerade behaupten kann …
